Just something I thought was cool

Playing a dwarven priest in the dev branch. I lit up a room on lvl 62 and find that a part of it is still shadowy. I thought it was a bug first, but then I detected evil and notice an abyss worm mass in the dark part of the room. It was just an unexpected and interesting new thing! It seems they have a dark aura.

Yes, this happens now as part of the changes to light and darkness. Nastier monsters can have bigger darkness auras, too.

Shouldn't Ungoliant simply suck up the whole light on the level she's generated? After all she ate all the light from the trees of Valinor. That would be cool...

hah, that would be cool! and what happens when you cast !Illumination? I think things like this would actually be quite good for the game; kinda means you can't just ignore certain monsters; there should be reasons to take risks to kill dangerous monsters on the way to the bosses.

I'm still hoping a staff of darkness becomes useful for necromancers.

I believe they are, just as Scrolls of Darkness are. Not only can a necro darken a lighted room with them, when entering a darkened room, using them will map the walls of the room.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”
