Thanks everyone for your input. I am happy to report that Sauron is a dead sorcerer, although he unfortunately did not drop the One Ring.
Complete N00b’s Journey: Part 5-13
After reading the replies, I decided that the tie goes to more preparation, so I dived back down to D:98 to get more Seeker Arrows. I dive down and kill Feagwath, the Undead Sorcerer, who drops the cloak ‘Colannon’ and also kill Scatha the Wurm and find the Wicker Shield of Elros in a vault. I then find two more scrolls of *Destruction*, deposit them back at the home, and dive down again, where I kill Osse, Herald of Ulmo and get to level 42 before going back up to Recall after find a scroll of Mass Destruction. I then get more Seeker Arrows from the Black Market and proceed to go down for a final dive to get more Seeker Arrows. This third dive gives me the Metal Cap of Thengel, which was useless at the point and dropped. I also kill Hourmurath of Dir, who drops an even better ring of Speed and the Great Hammer of Aule and proceed to kill Gorlim, Betrayer of Barahir and Arien, Maia of the Sun. I then get another supply of seeker arrows and recall for the last time to get the necessary items for Sauron. I switch to the Bastard sword of Eowyn to get dark and nether resistance, and switch to the necessary gear to dispose of Sauron once and for all, while buying a potion of Life from the Black Market for Morgoth. Having done all of this, I then proceed to D:99, where I quaff a found Potion of Experience and proceed to dig shooting corridors to abuse the line of sight rules. Sauron, the Sorcerer comes soon enough and dies to three rounds of corridor shooting with Seeker Arrows of Frost. After killing him, I get to level 43, and find that he didn’t drop any useful items. I descend to D:100, and immediately Recall to prepare for the final battle. While waiting for Recall, I end up trying to evade Morgoth by going through the winding corridors. Once back at the town, I pick up the arrows I have stashed at my home and get the items that I think are needed to slay the Black Foe of the World.
So Duntir’s status has once again been updated, and I welcome any tips to make sure this character is tip-top for Morgoth.
