Since I usually don't have this great of a start I feel like I need to coin a verbiage for it.... we'll call it a Grotug start since I constantly have to read about his consistently better than mine beginnings.

Sifting around a normal DL 5 and I find 2 DD. Read them both and find myself at DL15 with a 2-9 feeling. Usually that means a Book of some sort, so no high excitement. Turns out I find a ROS +8 and a mace of *slay evil* that has telepathy to go with it. Fantastic. Kill a couple of orcs and then lo and behold MLA of RES. Not too shabby for @lvl 10.

I'm back. Had to take hiatus from the forums because of a lack of internet.

Finished a standard game last night with nothing really interesting happening. Hit DL90 fairly quickly (around 45k) with end game armor but I just couldn't find myself a weapon I felt comfortable taking Sauron and Morgoth on with so I trolled around forever trying to get it. Since there was no chance anymore of having an early win decided to kill all the uniques and find Ringil (seems fit to me to kill Morgoth with it).

On another note right after killing Morgoth I went to read a PD to get myself away from some of the summons to heal up and regroup. Diddnt realise I was actually out of PD and read *Destruction* instead. Goodbye Grond and Crown. I like picking up Grond after the fight and knocking around things for a bit before I "Q". Oh well.

Died at a very low DL to some paralysis.

Started over as a hobbit (I prefer them to HE) and what do ya know, Phial at DL3.

And Elvagil at DL12. Don't think I have ever been happy to get this artifact gut the dex and stealth are really nice at this lvl.

Certainly HE Rogue is a classic combo. (So is Kobold.) Don't know what a rouge is, but a whole lot of people have played it over the years

Ok Pete. Started a HE rouge "Lastil". Put 6 in str, 6 in dex, and 8 in con.
LVL 12 at the moment and nothing interesting has happened but did get Thengel off of Wormtounge and a decent ego trident off of Maggot so that's not too bad for a start.

Try rogue. Very high stealth makes a huge difference. An endgame rogue can achieve legendary stealth, which is essentially a form of 0-fail. Throw in detect monsters and detect objects, and you have a winning combination. Only mage has better control of his environment, and he has other problems.

Dead.

A series of unfortunate events. Knocked down the outside wall to clear a vault and I got summoned first a Q and then by a titan into a room with about 15 plasma hounds. TS failed and I got knocked out instantly. What a disappointing and useless death. I should have read MB the second that I saw the hounds.

Finally got ahold of a greater vault and it was one of the one square checker board ones with a 9-9 level feeling. Had plenty of TO but I really don't like leaving a unique that I can fight especially if I know that I can so easily control the parameters of the engagement. So Lungorthin, Balrog of Moria, and Cantoras fall without too much fuss but had to TO Haun and Gothmog. There is sooooo much stuff in this vault. 7 artifacts and about a dozen ego items that presented a real problem for me.... what do I take.

So here comes one of my favorite parts. Hauling it all back up and sitting down and optimizing my gear.

So not too bad. After sorting and swapping around I have it set like I want. I now have all resists that matter (except nether that I have to stat swap for confusion), +18 speed and a beautiful artifact pike Galor (3d5) (+13+23) <+2>, +2 attack speed, slays trolls, giants, *slay* demons, dragon, and branded with acid and fire (not weak). 639 damage with the slay and brands and 793 for the *slay*. And it gives me chaos res.

About to read these three DD and see what happens.

Yeah, I can just barely make that out. But there's also a screen dump feature on this site. It works with the ) command, IIRC.

I do the same thing, but I use blogger.com to upload the images and then link them here.

That image is too small for me, even after expanding.

What I do is:

1) Use alt+print screen, which copies a screenshot of the current window to my clipboard.
2) Paste it into any paint program (MS Paint, Paint.NET, GIMP, Photoshop, etc. are all ok) and save it. (If you want to crop just part of the screen, do that here. Or consider using a tool that makes this easier, like Windows's "Clipping Tool")
3) Upload the saved image to http://imgur.com/ .
4) Once it's uploaded, copy the direct link to the image and post that.

Here is one that I tried before and even when I clicked on them the words were illegible.

I don't know if I should put the img into paint to "blow" it up or what but for me it is way too small to see even after clicking the thumbnail.
