You can't perform actions, but the "You die" message may come before other messages about things that happen at the same time (that is, in the same game turn). The most annoying of these is "You are no longer bleeding", when you have just died of a wound.

I wish I had the message dump, but I could have sworn I got this message several times while fighting Adunaphel the Quiet (before he killed me). V3.1, comp#63.

"You miss Adunaphel the Quiet. It was a great hit."

That's possibly because in 3.1, the critical hit messages come _before_ the appropriate hit, instead of after it. So your "It was a great hit" applied to your next swing.

This is fixed as of today in the dev version.
