I managed to survive, but it was a pure luck. +40 speed helps, but I think the probability of insta-death was still very high.

Honestly, I think teleport into pit should not be possible, even if there is a free space inside.

I often *want* to phase from the moat to the interior of a pit. I dispel, the storm giant summons me next to him, except there is no room so I blip away out into the moat.

I often *want* to phase from the moat to the interior of a pit. I dispel, the storm giant summons me next to him, except there is no room so I blip away out into the moat.

Does your final location make sense when that happens? In my limited experience, it does not. In the case of fighting giants, the implications are minor, but in the case of fighting, say a group of angels, that type of "free escape" can be beneficial. Right now it seems as though the open square with the minimum distance to the caster is chosen. I would think either a) line of sight should be enforced on the square chosen, or b) an adjacent space to the caster should be opened by pushing the other monsters back before the search algorithm.

In both cases you should end up in the giant pit, but in the second case, you would be in slightly more danger, no?
