    Roguegor the High-Elf Rogue

    This one has gotten pretty lucky with drops so far, the only major thing missing at this point is rPoison. I'm thinking of just ignoring that for now, diving like crazy, detecting like mad and running like a baby. The only mishap so far was an unlucky run-in with a Nexus Vortex, swapping my CHR and DEX dropping me to 4 blows. Wish me luck!

    Wow, never though I'd get this far with this little fella! Down to dlvl 68 now at 352629 turns, and the drops are really starting to crop up. I just recently found Caspanion, a lead filled mace of extra attacks (+2) and a little while ago a =oAcid. If I swap my armor for Caspanion, my =rPois for =oAcid and Angrist for the lead filled mace of extra attacks I would put out a ton of damage, though at the expense of the +4 speed from Angrist. I could compensate this in part by exchanging Thror for the boots of Speed (+6), though that would make me lose a whole bunch of HP. Decisions, decisions...

      Sorry about the triple post, but I just shuffled my equipment round a bit and I'm starting to think what I'm wearing now is the best config I can get at this point. I'm not quite dexterous enough to get the full 7 blows with the lead filled mace, making me think what I wrote in the post above not quite worth it. The =oCon doesn't add anything to my hp, but I don't have anything worthwhile to put in that ringslot at the moment. Hopefully something will turn up soon! Any comments?

        +10 base speed is a big plus -- wear the BoSpeed, and get to RoSpeed depth ASAP.

          Great, thanks! I'm down to dlvl 84 now and I'm chugging along nicely. There hasn't really been any changes in in the equipment department, although I have found a few nice consumables. I'm still waiting for my first =oSpeed!

            You're in great shape -- 750HP, 10 speed, RBase, RConf, RPois, & ESP means the basics are covered. Your biggest weakness is escape and evasion--you have the basics covered, but evasion is pretty thin at one rod and one wand of TO. (Also note that Deep Descent don't work below dl 97.)

              Yeah, I'm starting to feel this one may finally go the distance, as long as I don't do anything stupid! My biggest problems now are, as you said, consumables like TO and safe escapes. My rather high pace of diving is currently making me use up more of them than I find, though my newly found rod will sure come in handy.

              Also, mistakes like these:

              And not discovering it until I've left the level feels like a surefire way to get myself killed. Learned my lesson on that one though, pay attention and use inscriptions!
