From a thrush, I learned... (spoiler!) The hacked code on this special case! ...Okay, I agree with you that samurais and imitators can cause instakills a lot more. (following is mildly spoilerous) Hey that's cool, didn't know that either. You do need all 3 things right to get that x15 (if i read source correctly ^^) multiplier tho, the bow, the arrow, *and* the monster. That can be a bit hard sometimes. And tbh, I hardly ever carry 'the' arrow around. (maybe i should :p) I did some source diving earlier and did find out some other things, e.g. a hidden use for 'Golden Hammer' and 'Nothung'. No world shocking things but still nice little extras that make Heng Heng :). What's the Golden Hammer and Nothung trick? :) Neat that this will "extra" stays faithful to the Hobbit. Always thought that arrow should do something special against dragons (besides its regular multipler). Nothung is apparently the sword that Mime used to kill Fafner. It got a nice x15 multiplier against him. The Golden Hammer, I don't know the origin but the code implies that if you attack a monster with it (and it doesn't die), you can steal items from it. So far I didn't test it, but I think this also works on uniques. So, it may be abusable: attack a unique a few times with the Hammer to get some objects, and let it live to fight another day on another dungeon level. (note that this will only work if the game doesn't remember unique monsters globally; the 'monster inventory' pointer IS updated). Seen 2018 times. |
