Earthquake in a Vault What you see is the lower half of a - what do you call this - greater vault? Checkerboard? However, the somewhat scrambled portions came from my experiments with earthquake. Sounds senseless? Not quite: with some luck it's the only way to open a chamber w/o using the shovel (left my wand of digging at home, unfortunately). With the shovel in hand I would just lose one move against an attacking monster. After opening one 'row' I left the vault, just too dangerous for now (2 bad: preserve=off). Here's a quick list of some of the inhabitants: A Cherub, Gorlim, Lorgan, Great crystal drake, Lesser Balrog, Azog, a Bile Demon, a Master Vampire, Smaug, Draconic quylthulg (<- 1250' out of depth!). I killed Lugdush (easy) and a Dread. The latter was already a threat, as I saw it first in the vault and was attacked before I entered the vault! I didn't even know that this would be possible. Had to tele and tele self before I finally was able to kill it. I also was surprised how fast the Dread found me again after each teleport...
