ooo... i'm sorry.

maybe that trap shouldn't affect artifacts?

Meh... I've had that happen as a 'reward' from my patron in Heng (as Chaos-Warrior). With an artifact. Blasting me down to 14HP in the process. When there were a couple of wussy monsters just waiting to kill me.

You know, I was sure artifacts were supposed to be indestructible. Perhaps some checks that should be made in some parts of the code aren't being made. It's rather dodgy IMO...

Maybe in Vanilla. Maybe even in ToME (but I doubt it). But definitely not Hengband. It would never go easy on the player like that! Besides, realistically, is an artifact going to stand up to a pissed god? (Not counting Cthulhu, Nyarlothotep and other god or god-like uniques).

Fair enough if a god decides to take a disliking to my artifacts, but that was just a trap. Obviously a very, very powerful trap, probably set by some deity. Nasty.

It is a nasty trap, but in ToME, if you see a trap you don't know about - whatever you do, don't try to disarm it by hand! Darkgod (the unholy variant maintainer) has a VERY twisted sense of humour when it comes to these things. Technically, you could have just avoided the trap, since you obviously detected it. But levelling up? You can TRY and avoid it, but I don't know how.

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I said that an artifact wouldn't stand up to an annoyed god - accurate, but not really relevant to a trap. Unless it was set by the Serpent of Chaos.

AFAIK, ToME is an 'easy come, easy go' variant, where you can get randarts that add 40% to your HP, but there are Ringwraiths who can destroy artifacts by being attacked. I don't think Darkgod would have any scruples about adding a trap that destroys artifacts. He's as bad as Topi Ylinen.

Dive a little deeper and you'll probably find one that destroys all your equipment!
