Babblicious! I guess I had better test out my own theories on defeating the babble. This was trivial. At +20 speed, the babble never hurt me :) It took 8 pokes to finally get him. The GWoP was another matter, as he breathed time at one point knocking my con waaay down. I only had 700hp max at that point, and it was tight with my piddly damage output and constant magic eating. I think I should have used the needle for that fight as well, but I needed Silver Chariot for Dark and Disenchantment resistances.
