Actually, the animist is in the southern room. After the summoning (24 Phase Spiders, 1 Abyss Spider and something else) I blinked away, then the Phase Spiders began popping in and being electrocuted, until the Abyss Spider entered and blinded me. The time to drink, and the Abyss had already confused me. This screenshot was taken after the first (failed) attempt to use the Staff of Teleportation.
