Premonitions of Death Appall you... ...flee this murderous place! In V, this would have been a *superb* feeling, I guess. If anyone S vets are around in the next hour or so, I could probably use some advice! Check the related dump for the perception feelings I got when I landed on the floor; but I'm also probably a little ahead of the curve for my depth. The 3 uniques I detected appear to be Kavlax( in the middle with a death knight & an ancient blue), Baphomet (red H, bottom row) and Harowen (who I had 2 clashes with already, and appears to be far enough away to ignore for now). The vault also has 3 Deadmasters, Greater ice wyrm/drake, + Death drake. All other D's are ancients. Several &'s in there that I don't know well if at all. Irritated about not bringing =Rnether, as at least a creature or two in there capable of attacking me with it. Something is niggling at my mind to be wary of the undead beholder, too... Other than that, I can handle everything else, individually at least. I've got a few important corridors trapped with Drain Life wands, doors are closed and locked to give warning, and nothing evil is within detect range, so my ass is reasonably covered. The only obvious artifact I can see is PoG, but messages suggests there could well be a 2nd. TBH, at dlvl 55 I feel its about time I retrieved the Phial! Worth going for, or not? I'm not familiar with the vault layouts in Sang, as this is my first run, so I don't know where the other doors are. I suspect I should leave Kavlax be, right? I can't remember his native depth, but I'm sure its a lot higher than 55! My plan at the moment is to clear another small segment and grab some more stat pots, to add to the !wis I have up & left of my @, hopefully I can get some decent bottles (or just waste !Heals) and make some !Mental Awareness - I killed two A's already, so clearly I'm going to want to be able to detect some non-evil creatures for a better idea of what's in there. Might be a good idea to make ?door/stair location too, as well as !resistance for an extra edge. Other than that, I have 4xGenocide scroll - I'm thinking I should waste the G's, and maybe 'e' also. If you feel comfortable around Ancients you propably should be able to handle him (her/it?), after all it's just a 'd', no 'D'. I had to phase, and ended up near a pair of D's on 36 hp, luckily no breath and my dodging meant my turn came around at 20 hp. Phew! Sloppy, though - I'd have had no excuse if I'd died. Cost me 2 thirds of my !Heal, that vault did... wish I'd taken on Kavlax now, I basically left the centre. I realise from Mon Mem that Harowen was the terrible prescence, and not all that dangerous thanks to being a thief. I did cart out the phial and 3xDSM, plus a rod of fire balls. Only used 1 !Spd, as there were plenty of staves lying arounds. I would have performed a lot better if I had left the Undead beholder's section till this morning... On the plus side, I fought 2 Archangels, and I'm a lot more confident about my next quest now. Thanks for the responses. :) Seen 2113 times. |
