Melee weapon was ego because the artifacts sucked, but the shooter-artifacts were good.
Very nice artifacts for some slots, but utter junk for others (rings and amulets for example - one of the artifact amulets got res_nether and its activation, nothing else).

I went for Sauron when I finally found a source of res_confusion (yes, that armor from lvl 98 was my first, besides an early bronze DSM which I left because at the time my armour was busy providing res_poison and other stuff). He went down from a couple acid arrows.
An attempt at Morgoth failed due to me not hitting (low level), so I decided to get more levels and ran afoul of Vecna. Bad luck.
