No idea how this game will go, but when a blue yeek drops +14 speed randart boots on DL2, you can expect ANYTHING! I bet all the weapons in the randart set will be ubercrap now...

For sure I'm gonna take stairs as soon as I see them and use every scroll of Deep Descent I find until I'm at 1500ft or so, because that will greatly lower the turncount.

For my first dive, I'll stop at 1000ft. Map revealed my first vault (lesser). Nothing more dangerous than a cloud giant... oh and the Mim boys (didn't show on Detect Evil).

... and I immediately find the MOST ABSURD randart I ever found just lying on the floor a few squares away! I know now what definitely needs to be nerfed in the next version...

So what now? I guess I need better gloves (+DEX would be great) and just powerdive and reach CL40 for Single Combat. I'm pretty good stat wise (found a lot of potions), deal an insane amount of damage in melee and can heal 200+ hps for 3 mana

Reached CL37, which means Clairvoyance and no more devices for mapping. Big heal spell now at 5% fail. I kill Osse in 6 rounds... lol...

Qzzqzzlup summons a bunch of uniques that I quickly dispatch... less stuff to deal with during the M fight. And since I'm already aggravating, I put on some gloves of Combat for more damage. Tiring of Mr Q summoning an endless list of uniques, I defeat him in Single Combat mode.

And another absurd randart with shooting speed... at least it's only 0.1 extra shot now. And Band #3, which is better than Band #2 without the aggro...

Ok switching some stuff and taking stairs on sight... no need to stop until Sauron and Morgoth now.

That's why I played this char with Forced Descent. If you don't want to waste 1000 turns looking for the down stairs, you just recall and use the one in town. I abused that a lot...

Single Combat is absurd: the game generate a tiny cell with the opponent and you fight one-on-one... which means ABSOLUTELY ZERO SUMMONS. You do that vs Qzzzqzzlup, Maeglin, Morgoth or any other heavy summoner and it's a "win" pushbutton. And you get Smite Evil which means you keep the heaviest hitting weapon (for example Glaive of Pain in the standard set) and get a x2 multiplier vs evil for all your fights. And you can spam Minor Healing to remove any use for resting. Clearly this class needs to be reworked to balance it a tad bit ;)
