My first 3.1.0 beta character (no false starts, surprisingly!)
Found Thengel on my last trip then came up and found Ethereal Openings *and* Godly Insights in the Black Market! Very useful. The early find of the HA main gauche was also very useful - in fact, I've found a lot of useful kit; whether that's just luck or the 3.1.0 changes I don't know. The only vital thing missing at this stage is RPoison. Stat potions don't seem that infrequent - although only the one STR, WIS or CON, which was WIS from the BM.

Grr. That's the second level 30 character I've lost in the last few days. This one had a lot better equipment than the other one did, too. Got knocked down on health by a nightmare, teleported it away but then a Dread came out, I didn't realise how much damage it was doing and it killed me, helped I think by being slowed down to -3 by its strength drain.
3.1.0 certainly feels very different to previous versions of Angband. The attempts to reduce clutter have definitely worked, though there seem to be more good equipment and less stat potions than before - though not hugely so, and one game isn't really a large enough sample. There was quite a lot of good stuff in the BM though again, whether that was just luck or a change I'm not sure.
