How much more PER do I need to start getting limited telepathy? What can I do to increase my chances of finding some light sources? I have found just one torch so far. What about magic books? When will books 2 and 3 start to appear? Also, how do I find out why my shortsword is excellent? I read an identify scroll on it and it didn't tell me. Most of my previous efforts (Iron1-13) didn't make it past this stage, but with the crossbow and the sling and enchanted ammo and high stealth, I can actually deal with groups of lesser orcs and demons.

If I were you I'd pump your Luck a couple of points at least. You might find some better items then.

Now I don't understand why your Shortsword didn't identify properly. That sounds buggy. If you email me the savefile I'll take a look and may be able to fix it.
