This is the results of the first run down. Made it to dlevel 16 pretty darn fast. Maybe this will make the middle-game a tad easier (can take a little more time).

Hmmm.... my deepest kill is a dlevel 15 monster... and I'm on dlevel 16.

Anyhoo, I've been working on that whole diving faster bit (especially in the beginning game). I've mostly settled on this giant necromancer thing (recent dumps of mine may suggest this strongly). Anyhoo, to dive, I mostly need to spend my experience in wrestling (it's how I get kills). Necromancy is great in the early game for bless (and remove curse). I suppose one might get some mileage out of bat-form, but I don't. Mostly, I fight orcs, ogres, and other easy to kill non-spellcasters. Resistances are prett much the real issue (especially around dlevel 50).

Anyhoo, I just killed Bullroarer and a Zombie who between them furnished my first two ego-items (helm of light and war hammer of slay troll). The hammer was sold to buy rusty chain mail of resist cold. This will make it much more likely to get the basic four resists in a timely manner.

Maybe I'll find a ring one of these days...

Well, I just left a level with a blue dragon pit (large) in it. No thanks. I doubt even a higher level character with lightning resist would try that. Well, maybe try. Certainly not accomplish (though I did have an unusually large stash of supplies).

The half-trolls were from a pit. I killed 2 before pansying it up the stairs. There's a lot of stair scumming involved in diving fast. Detect evil makes it pretty easy to tell if it's worth sticking around. Ogres, trolls, and orcs? Good. Wights, Ghosts and big dragons I don't resist? Bad. Bye bye.

Noteable improvements to the kit include *rings*, the cloak of stealth, and the ubiquitous _CMW. Which is truly a lifesaver. Need to keep the potions for confusion and the like.

Free action and/or confusion resistance would be real nice. I mean really nice. So would resistance to all 4 basics (esp. fire and elec). Well, here's hoping!

I'm down deep enough for artifact armors. Of course, generating them and staying alive are both troublesome enough as is, let alone picking them up.

Money's kinda tight, but not too bad. I imagine it'll get better over time.

Dead. Teleported away from Khim (disenchanter who casts slow, which I apparenlty can't resist) after killing Lugdush (trivially). Landed in a pit of 'C', with bad terrain, so I ?PD *into* *another* blue dragon pit for instant death.

I feel like it's just too much pain to try to dive in Sangband -- the drops are insufficient to keep a diver going. I never found a source of lighning resist or of free action. I probably would have duked it out with Khim if I did, but with a bunch of 'o's around and being slow... I guess I could have quaffed a potion of speed, but I only had one in reserve...

Bleh. I suppose you're just supposed to lose a bunch of characters like this. Maybe I need to invest in ?TL? I would have like to actually pick up the drop though. For all I know it could have been good/useful, which I was in short supply of.
