Starting in Ephil Brandir is tough! I tried several Druadan rogues and warrriors and a few Adan warriors before I finally got this guy going. I think it's much easier getting an Adan off the ground than a Druadan because of the enchanted weapon they get. This is very slow going, as I'm still stair-scumming the edge of town for experience. If the wilderness outside Ephil Brandir were rocky, or confined in some way this would be a lot easier, but having 'arena' type levels is painful. Actually, I've only left the staircase square a scant few times because I'm afraid of stepping on a teleport trap from which I would never come back alive. Maybe with some luck and patience I will be able to take out one of the 'p' uniques, get some decent equipment, beef up my h.p. and be able to get 20 or even 30 squares away from the staircase... lol! :)

Things are looking up! Got a recall point at a level 18 wilderness as opposed to the 19 I've been up against. In addition, when I recall back I'm in the middle of the wilderness so the race to the edge will be quicker. I've went to the South but didn't find a handy exit so I'm guessing the exit is to the east. I'm going to buff up on some more potions, but hopefully I'll be in easier lands soon.

Dead! I'll post the file after while...
I got home free. Yes, home free. I got to Somethin'-or-another level 16 in the wilderness, read a word of recall scroll but held down the spacebar key like I usually do and totally forgot to select a recall point! I was so frustrated after I realized what I had done that I went out in killed Redbeard. Poor guy!
So, this brings up some questions:
Is there a way to recall to a point that you've been to if you don't set a recall point?
Is there a way to make the game halt when you read a scroll of recall and don't select a recall point?
Is there a way to make the game replace of the recall points by default if you don't select a recall point?
This is a product of my carelessness, I realize... but it's hard to change my tactics after a decade or so of being sloppy!

Yeah, I too suffer from the same problem especially with Borobab. I guess he's lost around 10 word of recall scrolls just 'cos when I had forgotten to select a recall point I had to read another to stop recalling, and then third one to select the recall point with...

Yep, I've done that too. Maybe I'll put in a "none of the above" option and make it necessary to choose something. And player ghosts - be very, very careful. My last two characters have been killed by them - including a grey elf paladin that I'd got nearly to safety. I'll post that dump when I get it from my laptop.

In the beginning they're fairly easy. But from Mummy up... no deaths yet, but a lot of fleeing.
