Tried my luck with a "Grove-diver".

Just never stopped diving with enormous use of teleport away and various detections. Hit 4900 ft at ~400k internal turns, Lvl 36, with +19 permanent speed and decent resists.

Had to retreat against Sauron for the first time in many characters that reached that far ... with depleted resources at around 500k turns. The main problems seemed to be lack of hitting power and/or no permanent healings (artifacts/rod). This makes stopping for collecting consumables more necessary. Next time I'll probably search more for pits etc after I reach !o*Healing* depth and not crash all the way down first.

I think I'll shelf this one and try again some other time. Otherwise he's got a boring prospect of collecting potions ahead of him.
