It's been a long time since I posted a character here - this started out as a 1.0.0 playtest character and ended up my best character ever. He may have had a much longer life if I wasn't both unlucky and stupid. Mostly stupid.

I played this character as a pure spell-slinger - barely any melee fighting, all of it by accident. It's really pretty easy once you get some good equipment. I'd pop in, throw some mana bolts around until stuff is dead, and teleport away. Worked like a charm. I was half through stat-gain, but was getting bored - nothing at 1800' was a challenge - and I figured I'd be safe taking a quest below 2000 is I play it cautiously.

But on the way down, at 2000 feet, I teleport away from a fight as normal when my mana drops low and find myself in the middle of a vortex pit. I nearly died, except that a nexus vortex was kind enough to teleport me out.

That's the unlucky part. The stupid part is A - staying on the level even though I knew it had no artifacts, and B - when fighting some stray chaos and corruption vortices that were also teleported away by the nexus vortex, I run low on mana. Without thinking, I teleport away - even though I could have dimension doored to safety. Of course, I end up in the middle of the vortex pit again. And of course, this time, I drop from 360 HP to 0 before I can make a move.

Ah, well. It's not as if I can blame the maintainer.
