Doggy's got a Bone though! Got it in a trapless vault level 80, R'lyeh, when I stumbled upon... plain gold ring. Was actually prepared to fight the unicorn. Since I was using Slayer, the fact that it summoned D's was decisive. I massacred and quaffed two *healing*, and that was that. Now come on you dirty q!

Will stay away from Beserkers now, they are too one-dimensional. Not quite sure what class I will play next. Any suggestions?

Hengband has a lot to offer. I personally enjoy playing Ninjas (stealthy with tons of intrinsic abilities, including the ability to walk thru walls at a fairly early level), Samurais (a fighter type, with some very effective spells that support melee combat ... see one of Victor's posts for details), and Sorcerers (very weak, but can cast spells from almost every realm ... requires a lot of perfection since they, too, can die in a heart beat). Take the time to explore, there is a lot to do in Hengband :-)
