Well, here he is. Finally dead. After the best part of 4 and half months of playing, he's gone.

This has been my first character who actually *got* anywhere; the first who gave me a little tingle of "maybe I could win with this guy!", and I've had some great fun with him.

Getting all the way to level 50 took me a long while - he was something like 40 before 1000' was even passed. And a lot of his luck was had in those early days too - finding a Kelek's at 100' (prompting screams of agony from myself - this is a DWARF WARRIOR!), finding BlueDSM at 450', finding three pairs of Boots of Speed before 1000', and a =oSpeed +5 that kept me going right up until the level that killed him. I suppose I was getting a bit overconfident, since he'd comfortably pasted just about everything from 800'-2800', with nothing standing in his way... for long, before coming a pile of goo.

Then I got to 2850'. It gave me an 'any other level' feeling. But then this huge - absolutely huge - vault appeared. And inside, there were no less than 6 uniques - Gothmog, Hoarmurath of Dir, Harowen, Khamul and... the Tarrasque. I managed to clean out most of the top 3/4 of the vault, finding two bad artifacts which I didn't need (Hammerhand and Bloodspike), TWO =oSpeed +7 (which were being worn at death), and also the "oTrickery - and lots of interesting new high-level weapons (Blades of Chaos, Maces of Disruption), resulting in huge waves of "excellent" loot lying around waiting to be sorted.

Gothmog summoned up far too many demons to kill, so I teleported him away with the rod, and foolishly decided to try and cleanl the bottom quarter out - this was rather quickly punished, with the Tarrasque breathing disenchantment over until he'd gotten about 200 hp left.

Then I legged it And ran into yet more trouble. A pit fiend that Gothmog had called summoned no less than Glaurung, Father of Dragons - which really took the cake. After a lot of furious running around and teleporting away, I decided to get what loot I could from the piles waiting for me back at the huge vault and recall back.

Of course, this was where it all went pear-shaped (well, even more so). Instead of taking the loot and legging it to town, I tried to clear out the bottom quarter again, teleported away from a black reaver, and ran into the Tarrasque, he puked flame all over my character.

And that was that. It's been fun, and I suppose this took away a lot of the "will he, won't he" uncertainty. So I thought this'd be a fitting epitaph. And this time through, I'm playing a mage!
