Fairly uneventful game. Haven't been run off a level yet, although chasms cut me off from parts of levels on 350 feet so I just dove to 450 instead. No artefacts yet either but I'm a smith so I can make my own eventually assuming I survive that long.

I'm rather lucky to have gotten the chance to make my loremaster artefact so early. Had a run earlier where I got to 550 feet, and could not find a single 3-use forge. Found 2 2-use forges instead, so I had to ID my inventory the old fashioned way. Then I died to a giant due to poor RNG. He acted like my 15 points of evasion didn't exist...

I'm beginning to think giants are some of the most BS enemies in this game, with high HP, a +6 to-hit, and damage of 4d9. It's impossible to pump evasion up to the point where they won't be able to land any hits on you by the point in the game when they appear (you need 26 evasion..) And if they manage to land a hit, good luck. 4d9 means even if you stacked armor, he'd cut through you like butter. So the only way I've found to deal with them, is to kite them out with sprinting (i.e. don't let them hit you and just throw projectiles at them). There are no giant-slaying weapons. And to add insult to injury, they will run away if you get them low so sometimes you don't even get the experience for the kill.

Anyways, paused here to ponder what I should make on this 4 use forge.

Found a natural +1 grace amulet, so the only things left in my smithing kit are the warhammer, lesser jewel of grace, and crown of grace. Warhammer will require 26 smithing, so that's out. I could make the other 2, but then I have 2 uses left. I could make a boot of free action. And perhaps a leather armour of resilience? Wish I had some restoration herbs.

Also Uldor gave me quite the scare. I cleared his lackeys, but did not account for the lurking horror that was in the room (wasn't in line of sight). This is the same room with the 4 use forge. So I got entranced and lost 30+ HP in one turn. Blew my only !healing then. Honestly wish I have more restoratives. 1 !orcish liquor isn't going to cut it if I find myself in another rough situation.

At least equipment-wise, I look fine. True sight helmet for shadows and sulraukos. rFire from my artefact loremaster dwarf mask. And helmet of brilliance to spot shadow spiders. I have orc-slaying, troll-slaying, werewolf-slaying, wight-slaying, and shadow-slaying. Have a very good 2H option as well in that bastard sword of hador's house. Would like rFear and rauko-slaying soon...

_sanctity I always keep around in case I find gloves of treachery. _light I might dump soon. Have a lot of inventory problem as it is.

Oh, and the reason I went parry/riposte route was because the dungeon wouldn't give me any good battle axes. Would be one thing if I was going 2H...but after I found that double fine shield of deflection, there was just no way. I figured with my evasion already so high, it'd be a good idea to make good use of it. Of course, that limits my options to light weapons from now on or else I wouldn't get many ripostes off.

Oh. I could smelt down my mithril longsword and make a faenorian lamp of brightness. It's fine though...(+1, 2d6)[+1].

WOW. I was smithing and a bunch of easterlings came by. I noticed too late Ulfang was among them. They all look the same! RIP.

I was going to make a cloak of warmth and a amulet of constitution. Would have been sick if I managed to finish them. Oh well.

I hope it's not considered cheating if I recolor some of the monsters or herbs so they stand out more.
