Trying riposte build this game. Hopefully works out better than the flanking build...

Whenever I find _understanding, I always get too greedy with its charges. I don't know what I was thinking, putting on that amulet. I knew it was at best adornment, and at worst -1 con. Turned out to be a cursed amulet of grace <-1>.

Someone once told me _sanctity is fairly common. That hasn't been my experience personally, but I'll just pray I find one soon.

Just kidding, that didn't take long. Hmm, maybe it's not as bad as I thought.

ID game so annoying. :(

Managed to pretty much ID everything without using my _understanding. The un-ID'ed ring is sustenance. I soft-ID'ed it with _self knowledge. I'm not afraid of eating herb of visions because I have clarity. Herb of sickness is probably the worst herb, and I've already ID'ed that. Herb is weakness is still un-ID'ed but I have restoration on hand. Won't be an issue.

Out of the potions, the only one that might be a problem is disconnection. I forget what it does (-1 dex?), but again, restoration herb on hand.

Have a LOT of good gear. I don't normally do this, but I've been using the best stat gear for 'everyday' use and swapping to resist gear as needed. Usually I just keep the resist gear on at all times and dump the non-enchanted gear, regardless of their stats.

Oh, and I'm saving my _sanctity for amulets. Those always end up being either cursed or hard to ID (in which case I'll use a _understanding).

Tbh, I wanted to branch into stealth for exchange places and opportunist, but I wasn't sure if the XP would be more wisely spent elsewhere. It's easy to screw up your build on an Edain I feel like. Fall even a little behind the power curve and you'll find you can't kill anything, end up having to blow through consumables, and when you finally run out or get cornered, die.

Haven't found any artefacts or anything amazing this run yet. There hasn't been any really scary uniques either. And happy to say I haven't been forced to leave a level yet.

Solid run all around. Not sure if I should get ZoC or follow-through at some point...I feel like I should just pump all my XP into melee/evasion.

All the will investment was to guard against wights. I still got strength drained at one point, and slowed even through my freedom of movement, but it helped me ID restoration herb so it's all good.

Don't think I'll be getting lorekeeper/loremaster this game. Would just be an unnecessary XP dump at this point.

Oh, right, had a really close encounter with whispering shadows. I saw a patch of black and wasn't sure what it was, so I shot an arrow. I didn't expect it to already be right up against me. So, it got 2-3 attacks of opportunity on me. Went from full to 20% HP in the same turn.

I have a habit of only using wooden torches until the first appearance of a whispering shadow (usually around 350-400 feet). So sometimes that first encounter with a whispering shadow can be jarring...
