Thanks to clouded's forum post, I was able to start out much more efficiently

Sold the !Restore Mana, bought Lantern of Extra Light(!), !Recall, couple !Teleportation, few !CSW

More diving with Detect Stairs and Doors spell. Angband 12: King Mulu, had to use !Speed, he kept summoning too many ants. I was able to get into a nice corridor where I could get the most out of my KAMEHAMEHA! Level 15. Recall out and to the next town NE.
He dropped an artifact.. The Hard Leather Armour 'Power Shield'. It has Antimagic but it might be useful as a swap for now
Sure enough, right after IDing it, some Air Hounds attack me in the city. GUARDS!?
Prebuffed !Speed, Regeneration, Bless and put on the Power Shield with rPois to fight them. Level 17.
Aura of Force + Bless + Regen is pretty nice for fighting weak orc packs like Snagas early. Kamehameha is nice too
Recalled out to empty inventory. Level 19. Wonder if I can take on Azog already. With !Speed, I guess

Level 20: melee damage 27.7 / attack(=round?), small force ball 7d4, kamehameha 9d5. Plays like a weird short-range spellcaster who retaliates in melee. Fun

Archvile got a double fireball off on me at OC:23 after I had just finished fighting a wyvern. Ouch

Azog was easy enough with !Speed, Regen, Force Aura and Kamehameha. Didn't even need my Wand of Frost Bolts. He was nice enough to drop a +5,+5 combat ring, melee damage up to 49/round now! Also something dropped Paurhach gloves, rFire is nice and melee damage vs non fire resistant enemies is 65/round

Dive went really fast as I like to play early game with always small levels (thank god this is togglable, in Tome2 I always prefered early game with small levels but then it would turn into a real challenge mode later on). On top of that I have Sense Surroundings and Detect Traps/Stairs. Killed The Hoard on the way down. Being surrounded by $$$ wasn't bad with Force Aura and retaliation :)

Got > (Icky Caves 32) into a huge pack of Earth and Electric Hounds, not a problem though with Large Force Ball being at 10% fail now.

Oops! On the same level I walk into an empty room, cast light and wake up 13 Dark Elven Warlocks at once.. I immediately teleport away, but decide that I want to try to get them one-by-one, depth might not be optimal for stat potions but DEWs have always been good about dropping them for me. They don't really want to leave the big room they are in though. Knowing that I will probably die to 3 mana bolts, I decide to still take the risk, !Speed up and poke my head in. Atleast they die to one Large Force Ball. They drop a bunch of potions but I'm out of ?Id. I manage to id 2 potions of charisma. Yay. Atleast I get some more !Speed from them.

Next level has a big troll pack with Tom the Stone Troll. Melee + Aura of Force seems to be quite efficient, with some CCW occasionally. Only the unique actually hurt me that much. But even then, with Aura of Force on and retaliation attacks, I could spam castable CCW (5% fail!) and regen mana with Clear Mind while he pretty much killed himself. This seems really strong..

My inventory is so full now that it's time to recall, drop my flasks of oil and rest of recall scrolls and grab everything I can. Sadly, after identifying everything, there were no stat potions or really anything really useful. Amulet with +2 Str and +1 light radius is nice at this point though.

Level 27, 80 damage fire/acid damage per round in melee. Kamehameha 10d5 damage with 2% fail, Large Force Ball 10d6+40 with 10% fail.

I wonder if Improve Force affects Aura of Force. I've been using it sometimes and sometimes not but can't really tell a difference.

Fought in the Arena till Rod of Monster Location. I can now Magic Map, Detect Traps/Doors/Stairs and Monsters. I was delaying this because I thought I didn't have a source of Free Action.. But martial artists get that innately. I was afraid of one Carrion Crawler :D. I'm not too keen on the paralyze mechanic in *bands. You basically need FA in the midgame not to risk some instadeaths. Luckily it's not usually too rare.

Decided to finish off the Icky Caves. The boss wasn't too bad with !Resistance and !Speed. Wutugu was on the level too. Got boots of levitation, which aren't that interesting as Force-Trainers can cast levitation and an amulet with rElFiCoSh. Pretty nice, got base res with that.

There are some low level quests I could do but because I don't know what the "requirements" for those are, I'm going to wait until a bit later.

Level 28, 318hp / 196sp, base res, detection and 7% failrate on Large Force Ball. I feel ready to enter the midgame.

Not sure where to head next. Lots of dungeons around my level. I might visit all of them to figure out which one's layout I like the most.

Chameleon Cave, first level has a special feeling. Totila, meh. I guess the idea here is that some of the monsters are not what they seem? Don't really understand it, not terribly exciting anyways.

The Castle. Lots of lesser demons and humanoids it seems. Pretty nice, I've always felt that humanoids drop a nice amount of potions.

There are the boring ones, more HP/AC which all sound "good". The ability to avoid breath attacks sounds like a pretty nice thing actually. Resisting Dispel Magic sounds like a good deal too, with Aura of Force (and speed obviously) being pretty nice. Just on the surface, right after casting Sense Surroundings, I notice there is a small encampment with lots of shops. I wonder if these are like dungeon shops in ToME2/TomeNET which often stock up many rare ego items, even speed boots/rings.

Well, apparently not, BUT, there's a Crown of Seeing with Telepathy in the Black Market for 70k gold. Luckily I've been carrying out all the junk and selling it so I can afford it with even some money left over! WOW! Things are looking up. I lose a bit of SP and Wis from Thengel but man, it's worth it.

There's also an Ancient Red Dragon on the surface. With double fire resist, I decide to take it on. Time to sell all the dragon loot.. I notice that I've also picked up a !Augmentation from somewhere. Wow! RNG is being gentle with me today.

After getting the helm with ESP and to not tempt the mighty RNG, I decide not to enter the dungeon to not risk any stupid on-enter deaths to breaths from Ds.

Level 30: Large Force Ball 2% fail, 10d6+45 damage. Improving it adds around 50 damage per charge. Not too bad. Melee damage is 100 acid/fire per round. I also learnt Healing which has 22% fail rate right now though. All other spells @ 5%.

Again, not quite sure what to do next. Maybe dive till Angband 24 or something..

Angband 24, Gachapin. Kinda nasty but I was lucky that my Levitation boots had rChaos.

Then decided to go and see what's the boss of Camelot, it's the first dungeon so better get it out of the way early. Going down with detection and always small levels is pretty fast, I only stopped to kill uniques on the way.

Wow, especially with always small levels, it wasn't really what I was prepared for. I was so lucky to have 2 !Healing with me, the mana bolts from Morgana Le Fay hurt me a TON. That's a "nice" surprise to have the dungeon boss of the first dungeon be considerably harder than for example Orc Caves :)

I was able to just barely survive, the loot contained 4 artifacts: Phial of Galadriel and 3 weapons, pfft. Level 31, Healing spell down to 11% fail.
