So far, so good. In the mid levels, the Blood Mage is worse off than the mage, but at this point, I'll take the extra hp any day. Finally, I scored a Sorcery and this allowed me to swap in Random's helm and take down Smaug for my Armageddon book. But, like I said, Rockets are too good so I didn't really gain much. Perhaps Breathe Fire for blinky Ice Giants? Breathe Gravity and Plasma are also good, I guess.

Why have more spells? Well, aside from resistance, many spells have desirable effects. Gravity in particular is awesome (short range teleport + slow + stun). Since I found these icky speed boots, I lost levitation and had to leave the Dragon's Lair. But Santa had a pair of Shiva's for some particularly good boy or girl, which I promptly robbed. I'll do the Arena for a bit. It's the best place to build gold quickly IMO as there is absolutely no reason to explore the level. Just kill a few big guys and recall back with the loot. Sell, rinse, and repeat.

The uniques are starting to get pesky, but so far, nothing too difficult. I barely noticed Kenshirou at all (Habu was much more deadly). But Amberites are beginning to spawn too frequently for my tastes, so I think, having finally leveled up, it is time to make a play for my final books. I did just recently pick up a Necronomicon and death is a tempting realm (Wraithform) but I really want to keep Sorcery (Invulnerability).

In case it is not obvious, my evil plan with this build was to combo up Gravity, Rockets, Forest Creation and staves of healing. When wounded, I throw up my trees and heal 4 times with my staves. Then, when my enemy gets next to me I push him away with gravity, uncovering myself in the process. It works splendidly, though many foes are beginning to resist teleportation.

I did the Node of Sorcery quest for the Grimoire and leveraged Clairvoyance for Ragnarok. This took a bit of time, but ignoring most levels eventually paid off eventually after just a few hundred recalls to DL95 of Olympus.

While in the Sorc quest, I noticed that all the dragons now come out. This is new, and never used to be the case. Apparently, increasing the max flow depth caused this as the old quest must have been right on the boundary of intelligent monster pursuit. So I had to fight 3 GWoMC at once and then 2 at once. No big deal, as Gravity kept knocking them out of LOS and I only need 19 healings to do the quest.

OK, I think the Blood-Mage is playing just fine with my recent spate of changes so I'll push a new release. I do feel strongly that giving this class healing spells, paid for with hp, is both broken and unnecessary. Perhaps they still have a tad too many hp, but I'll let that go for now. Part of the reason for that is that this class encourages big races rather than your usual mage races. For example, a Cyclops is a far better choice then a Sprite, Gnome or Mindflayer.

At any rate, this guy is very powerful. I just need to be more careful as I just let my hp wander too low against the Tarrasque. I was invulnerable, of course, but with Blood Rite I still inflicted a lot of self harm casting my huge mana breaths. I was down to 300hp before my low hp warning notified me and that low, the Tarrasque could have snuck a killing breath passed my Invulnerability shield!

Blood Rite is horrendously OP but in a fun way. It doubles all casting costs, and these are paid with hp while making you death incarnate. Easy to get careless and overconfident ...
