This is one of the strongest chars I had in midgame, never had such an easy time killing things than with her. Flanking, subtlety + 2lb longsword kills everything. I don't even switch weapons for trolls/orcs.

For subtlety, your best friend is a Deathblade, Delemereth, or a Mithril longsword.

Changed to shortsword for now. Probably go back to longsword for higher evasion enemies.

Keep Hurin or Dramborleg? Hurin has rFear (but I won't use it when the check is made), Dramborleg might be useful against crit-resisting raukar. Guess it is decided then.

I took assassination more as a sideline to do something with my first attack, I don't even have disguise (and won't take it) and to take opportunist now and cruel blow later.

May you find the +10 deathblade I didn't know what to do with.

+10 Deathblade + Cruel Blow + very high Melee + Song of Slaying/Sharpness will get the business done

Is Delmereth with its weight (5lb?) actually any good with Subtlety? (I mean I have a critical per 5 diff with my shortsword as opposed to 9 diff with Delmereth.) I wouldn't mind a nice 2lb deathblade though.

On 17.6.2013 21:58 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
Delmereth is 2lb, AFAIK, which will be worth using + Subtlety + Cruel Blow.

But then, the lighter the weapon, the better.

I should drop Orcrist. I don't ever use it. I would have helped against the guards, but they were in a vault. When I meet them next time I am better.

Apropos weight: 1.1 lb 1d8 or 1lb 1d7 shortsword. Am I right, that the 1d7 gets the all the criticals with total one difference and well two difference from the 6th critical one? = 1.1 lb 1d8 is better, but a 1.2 lb 1d8?

I have to rethink smithing. I never become a real smith w/o taking enchantment right away and starting the kit on the 1st forge. But I don't have to and the spare lamp helps tremendously. Thanks for the tip debo.

I only have foes, but that allowed me to track Delmereth. :) Still I wonder whether my other shortsword (+1, 1d8 +1, 1.1lb) might not have the higher damage output for the throne room.

Very powerful in the midgame, started to take too much damage when hit later on, but still killed everything. Got rushed because of the awesome killing power. I need much higher evasion to be safe in this depth. Weaponsmith was probably a waste in hindsight and parry, riposte should wait, I couldn't resist the studded leather armor but all these little things reduced evasion.

That's how stabbers go, it's going great until it's not. The thing is that many monsters in the mid-depths can be OHKOed by assassination, but you need to have a plan when your first strike doesn't work on e.g. a Troll Guard past 800' :)

Good run! Aren't stabbers SO FUN?!
