High-Elves are *a lot* of fun once you get past char lvl 15 and you make it to East Beleriand 13.

Having even more fun now that I have TWO Rings of Combat with > 20 bonus to Damage, despite the big penalty to confusion damage. My Metal Cap of Serenity has good coverage for ResistConfusion. I already took down Mim. If I could get access to a Weapon of Doriath, that would be nice.

I *really need* Blindness Resistance.

Possible bug?: Whenever I access the menu, via the '~' command, I noticed that the artifacts option is dimmed, despite having found some original artifacts, for example: 'Mace of the Drûgs' and the 'Lamp of Gwindor'. I really want to be able to access and keep track of artifacts on the go.

I got my source of ResistBlindness finally. And put it on while trading-off one of the Combat Rings.

The next issue is ResistSound, which I do have at home. But, I don't want to risk it getting burned or melted. :/

Right now, I encountered this message while entering Dorthornion 36 (NW of Menegroth): "Here Barahir and his outlaws were murdured."

Oh boy. Another special level.

While ResistBlindness and ResistConfusion I can now safely escape any danger.

The dungeons after Amon Rudh are really crazy. I really need stat upgrades now.

I found these two funny bugs, btw:

1) 538 gold pieces worth of adamantite in my inventory

-I don't know what triggered this or how this got in there. I cannot access it by any means, including the 'k' destroy command

2) My character is in a permanent 'AttPoison' mode after having read a Scroll of Elemental Attacks, not that I'm complaining or anything.

-Is this supposed to be temporary? Well, with this character, it's acts like it's permanent.

Nick, if you're reading this, I sent you an email about this along with the FAAngband 1.3.1 savefile, 'Fair_Gam'

The gold thing is a bug. The other is a bug if it is permanent - it is meant to last for a while, but I'll check that too.

I have to take my main computer in for fixing today, so I may not be able to get to this for a few days.

The 'AttPoison' in my case didn't go away at all, even when I removed the Long Sword of Gondolin.

Thanks in advance.

If you recall to Menegroth and head north, the areas up there are good to power up, until you are ready for Angband even.

Turn on autoscum and hard mode (in gameplay options) and hang around in the forests, it wont take long until you can get gear upgrades.

Another common bug:
Killing monsters on certain terrains (especially water and trees, etc. in wilderness) causes dropped items and gold to disappear. This can get really annoying when 'excellent items' disappear because of this.

On 18.3.2013 00:56 clouded wrote:
The items on trees don't disappear, they are just hidden from view. It's a pain, the best thing you can do is use the look command and press space to cycle through stuff, to see where things landed.

I think you're right that items landing in water destroys them though.

On 18.3.2013 01:21 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
There is a non-water terrain or two that causes destruction of dropped item: probably rubble?

High-Elves are *a lot* of fun. Even more if you play ironman. BTW, seems new versions have too much bugz still.

High-elves are really fun, YES.

But, those two aforementioned bugs are the reason why I've been on a hiatus from FAAngband. I'll be back once Nick fixes my savefile.

Got this savefile fixed and continued where I left off...

And man, Nargothrond is *crazy hard* right now. I had a couple near instant-death scenes. At Nargothrond 51, I got breathed on by SEVEN Nether Hounds. At Nargothrond 49, Waldern proved to be too much. And somewhere around there, I couldn't handle Water Elementals either. Same for Inertia Hounds. I need some serious stat gain now as well as Acid Immunity if possible. Other than being still alive, that's it for now.

This has been upgraded to FAAngband 1.3.3, btw.

If you can, try to put a very heavy shield on since you've already got nexus covered. A lot of your shield bashing damage is based on shield weight, if you didn't already know. Anyway, carry on!

I should probably add that you'll proc more stunned and confused monsters this way too. I love shield mastery, and it shines best in the early to mid-game.
