Hmph ... And I was ready to retreat thinking that a potion of speed would be required vs Azog. But my AC is very good and my knockout blows helped as well. Also, I managed to confuse Azog, and that was that.

Now, I'm regretting starting with a 12 Con. Probably I should be boosting Con rather than Str and Dex, but I am still hunting for that elusive fourth blow.

For demigod powers, Infernal Deal is insanely useful at this stage in the game and is strongly recommended. But my second talent hasn't been decided on just yet.

Seriously, its taking a while to get what I need for this character. I've finally managed to get my con from 12 to 18 despite not finding a single potion of con so far. And I just bought my first pair of levitation boots with lucky poison resist. Hitherto, I've been leaning on my lucky pattern hammer for poison resist, but I just know a better weapon is out their waiting for me :)

Once I spied Gachapin in the mountain, I went for the L24 quest and picked up Thranduil for my troubles. That's probably been my best break so far this game.

But now, 6 hours in, I have +2 speed, 355hp, resist base and poison and nice damage output. All I need is to get my hp up a tad more and a little more speed as well. If needed, I can swap in that ring of resistance and risk carrying a staff of speed. With double resistance, staves can still blow up, but it isn't automatic like it is with just single resistance. If I were bold, I would probably do that now and head over to the Anti-magic caves where I believe weaponmaster powers still function. But L40 is extremely risky and I like to have 500hp before risking it. So I think I'll take my new levitation over to the Lonely Mountain instead and continue stat gain (which I began at the 2 hour mark).

I got a ridiculously easy draw on The Vault quest. Had I known, I would have done it much sooner. And The Barrow Downs had a fine Merry replacement for once. With the power matching, +4 Con and a boost to slays is probably about the best you can hope for. Sure, more resists or some dex boost would be nice, but I'm quite happy none the less.

Since I lost my levitation, I will now head over to the Anti-magic caves. Speed is still way too low, but I'm hoping my staff of speed will compensate. I'll need to regain levitation before attempting The Cloning Pits, but that shouldn't take too long. Hopefully, the great boots await!

For the Old Castle, those Titans were big, cuddly pussycats! I never got touched. But the ultimate bad ass monster on the level was a Rotting Qyulthulg. Man, how was I supposed to kill one of those? I didn't even have see invisible! Fortunately, I picked up a rand-art ring in the quest with SI and, after much effort, managed to get next to the sucker. It was actually quite fortunate as it teleported away for like the 30th time and I, tired of following on foot, read a scroll of teleport in frustration. Imagine my delight when I landed right next to it. A quick tap and it died. (It did get the first move and, by some miracle, summoned rather than teleporting away again). I hate when I get those guys in this quest! I had mithril shots for my sling too, but a distance weapon is of no use against a super fast, insta-teleporter :(

The Raals were also particularly nasty, requiring 3 healing to dispose of.

I just picked up a nice Great Hammer rand-art, replacing Aegis Fang and Thranduil. This grants some resistance holes, but I'll continue to play cautiously, running more often than not. Still, I can't resist the mighty *SUPERB* criticals that a heavy weapon, enhanced by my club mastery, can dish out.

But I can't seem to locate uber weapons, and I think I am more effective single wielding with two hands. And I promise, this is my last uber damage post unless I get Vilya or The One Ring. I'll just have to make due with a mere 3586 damage vs. evil. Two bad the Hephaestus hammer no longer has +1 attack and too bad the Hephaestus spawn no longer has Fell Branding. With both of those, I'd easily be over 4k.

For a long time, I wielded the Harness of the Hell for nether resistance since Thror came with a second source of resist fear. With !Heroism, that gives 3 sources, which seems to be enough for those Olympians, though Raphael had me Terrified for quite a while. I guess boldness is needed as well. Anywho, with this kit I bested Artemis (crappy bow, btw) and Apollo (harpless). But the big kill was Hades, who is evil so should have fallen quickly. Except that mofo is freakin' *huge* :D Damn, I battled forever, even with my uber damage, and really needed some restoring as well. But in the end, he dropped despite my being surrounded by Archliches and Greater Balrogs. And, the Clothes! Gosh, I had no right to expect those, but they have nether resistance (of course) so *must* be worn.

Now, finally, I have enough speed for Vilya, if only I could find it. Last unidentifed ring in an uber vault was only Lordly Protection and took about 30 minutes to get. Grrrr...

I went at the guy with Trade Blows (AC 93) but using potions of Stone Skin (AC143). Even with all my melee power, I kept expecting the hunger paralysis insta-death. But it never came, so count me lucky :)
