Found one of the richest veins of copper/silver I've ever seen on DL3. Spend almost 2 hours of real time mining it with M-C-C and tunneling with my weapon while recovering mana (and clearing monsters as they tried to interfere with me). Cleared several hundred squares of "*" and made over 5000 GP, enough for my first _TP, the 4th Spellbook, and plenty of consumables. After I was done I thought I'd finish clearing the level before heading back to town. That's when I got careless and ran into the blue dragon in a long corridor with only partial HP and almost no mana or healing potions. Failed my last chance to cast teleport self. Is it just me or are Quickband dragons more aggressive with their breath weapons than Vanilla dragons?

Good spot! They do breathe more often. All sizes of dragon are dangerous at native depth.

Thought so. Philosophically I agree. Dragons should be very tough in any good "D&D" style game, and were certainly awesome and terrible in The Silmarillion and The Hobbit. I'm just kicking myself for not adjusting my playing style after my previous character got toasted by dragons.
