Here is a rare go at a weaponmaster for me. The digger master seems exceptionally weak, at least in the early going. The main problems are that diggers are rare, and that the only ego diggers are weapons of digging (aka crap!).

I scored Werewindle off of the Variant Maintainer early on, providing my initial FA and SI ... and interestingly, 3x the max damage I could get with any sort of digger. And when I finally did find a mattock at the 3h mark (with *huuuuuge* risk taking in the Dragon's Lair) I find that Werewindle *still* offers 3x the damage output. Do my abilities make up for the difference? No.

But then I found a ?WeaponBranding and managed the normally impossible: A Mattock of Westernesse. You see, this is the second problem with diggers. The only egos you can ever get are weapons of digging! Well, it is nice that the new scroll of weapon branding gives some alternatives, and my damage is now 50% of what Werewindle offers. Still, that is enough to tempt me ...

But the big stroke of luck just took place. Check out my awesome phial! It activates for Enlightenment :) :) :)

Perhaps Falcon Sword daggermasters are in for a bit of a haul. But all of these are self imposed. One could play Blades of Chaos instead, which are fantastically common (You'll find 50 or so for every diamond edge, thanks to those Bloodletters). Also, The Old Castle can usually be done around L40 so one need not wait forever.

However, for the rare specialities, you are betting your character on a couple of random die rolls. You will get two shots at an artifact diamond edge, and if they both suck, you might need to grind for 10 hours before you get another chance. I personally don't like that playstyle, but other characters might.

Damage can go to 732 with Signature weapon, and should I ever find Terror Mask, much higher indeed (~870).

I tried to repair my 92% life rating (18/120 str and con, but 18/80 dex). My first potion gave this absurdity, though life rating is only 95%. I'll live :)
