I have to say, the level 50 no-aggro ability was a bit wasted on a randart game, but it allowed me to use 'Electric Deathwreaker' without pissing everything off in sight. The no-aggro ability would shine much more on a standart game, but I'm satisfied nonetheless.

I did not use melee for the final fight. Instead, I used the light crossbow 'self-enlightenment' which worked superbly with bolts of hurt evil/holy might/slaying against the Serpent. I had maybe about 90 bolts total, and I guess I underestimated a bit, since I actually had to run around and pick up a few to finish the Serpent off. Good thing I was able to get to some of the previously used bolts, or else the big J would've been laughing at my 4 attacks/round at 334 avg damage.

It was entertaining wielding a Mace of Disruption as a Scout...never mind me sneaking around with this humongous glowing mace raised over my head! To deal truly respectable melee damage though, it seemed the proper choice. Nodens can attest to this, as he lost one star per round of attacks from my main mace, 'Order's End.'

'Electric Deathwreaker' was actually my first artifact creation. I was tempted to use it on a robe or black clothes to make light armor, but I reneged at the last moment, and I went for a weapon instead. Of course, it inherited aggravate, but as a Scout, I would be able to use it at level 50 without the f*cking aggravating.

In the meantime, I found a random scroll of artifact creation in the dungeon, and I decided to use it on a robe for some light armor. Here's where SOMETHING seems to be really broken in the artifact generation code...I swear it feels like at least 50% of the armor artifacts I create get Antimagic, which is fine and dandy for no-mana characters, essentially ruins the artifact for all others. I was so pissed I threw the robe at a passing dragon, and left it to its fate.

The 3rd scroll of artifact creation (from corpse turn-ins) yielded 'Order's End,' which in combination with a blessed +3 attacks ring, actually allowed me to take on endgame uniques in melee. Without a ring of extra attacks, forget it.

All in all, a very satisfying run, and thanks much, Dave, for thinking up the Scout :) Indeed, such a character type is right up my alley.

Now to try to finish my standart Scout at some point...

Electric Deathwreaker was a force weapon, and I was able to strike for maybe 10 rounds before my mana bottomed out. It was hilarious when I used it briefly against Oberon. He summoned some dragons around me, and I thought no prob, I'll just use Whirlwind attack! BOOM, mana went from 300 to 0 instantly :)

It was pretty comical, but of course, one shouldn't joke around with Oberon.
