Trying to make a smith-assassin; not yet sure what I'm doing. Made a nice light short sword which was a good start, but it seems that it will take a *lot* of points in smithing to make anything decent?

It looks to me like you should either invest in Evasion (at least early; you can cash out at Sprinting), or run away from fights after something notices you.

That shortsword is great, actually. I'd guess it's already worth the meagre investment in Smithing at the start. You got Jeweller but didn't make anything wiht it?

I made a lantern, but then got distracted and did not make any rings or amulets, true.

With a short sword like that, I'd definitely by tempted by Rapid Attack later. The -3 penalty to strength won't reduce your damage at all.

Really? I thought low strength reduced the damage sides - did I make that up?

Damage side effects from strength are limited by the weight of the weapon in pounds, both in the positive and the negative directions.
