Wow, I don't remember the last time I actually have RBase, FA, and SI by this point in the game, but Barrow Downs managed to have both a Pattern Dagger and Anarion. The =oSpeed(+6) is just gravy :-D

So despite my desire to go for Dual Wielding, this will have to do for now. Starting to stock up on Rapiers. Rapiers are nice because they're versatile enough both for Dagger Toss (Quickthorn + Silver Chariot) and plentiful enough for Frenzy.

If I get Master Tonberry's gloves, I'll be single-wielding a Rapier and Frenzying all those Olympians...

Well, it's been one long and wild ride. After I last posted, I went and did Cloning Pits. No big problems there; +11+10 speed was more than enough, and only used 2 !oHealing against Father Dagons. I did my whole Queen Ant farming thing again (which is pretty easy to do with Demeter), and was CL 37 when I came out.

Finished off some of the easier quests, and then did Dragon Lair scumming. With a {good} Rapier (intrinsic +2 stealth), my Black Clothes (+4 stealth), my Elven Cloak (+4 stealth), and the Shadow Stance Bonus (+3 stealth at CL 37), I was at Legendary[2] Stealth... AND I move 5 times faster than normal. That greatly helped out in collect stat potions, as well as a pair of =oSpeed(+9). Now, with +20 speed, Old Castle was easy, and I got the Rapier "Yggr-drasill". It's OK, but nothing to be ecstatic about.

?oArtifactCreation from DQII on my Elven Cloak and it picks up RPois (badly needed!) and RNexus. I then continued doing Lair until I hit CL 40. At CL 40, I picked Merchant's Friend for two reasons: First, I badly need !oResistance, and I still can't figure out Chris's new shop restock formula. Second, I figured I could get Quickthorn up to +15 with ?oEnchantWeapon+todam.

So, statistics from that: It costs 200-300k (40-60 refreshes) to get a stack (99) of ?oEnchantWeapon+ToDam, so about 2 on average per refresh. It takes about 5 stacks to get to +14, and then the last one took another 6.5 stacks.

Still, the +5 extra damage gets multiplied by at least 10 (assuming no =oExtraAttacks), and that means my Dagger Toss at CL 50 is something like 10% more effective.

DL 80 gave Hermes as quest monster, who promptly summoned Ares and Hades. I first took down Hades, and I think I noticed a bug. The layout was like this:

with p being Hades in a wall. I had Shadow Stance on (in order to facilitate quick retreat for healing). I hit him like 50 rounds in a row, with him doing nothing to retaliate... he just... sat there. Was stunned or asleep or anything. I don't get it. Anyways, I pick up his goodies and then go for Ares.

Ares summon both Mama and Papa, both of whom I promptly teleport away. His damn AC was hard to get through, he caused my own near-death experience so far with a double-move that left with me 168 HP and Mortally Wounded Status. I couldn't teleport, because Mortally Wounded may do its 200 HP damage right afterwards, and I wasn't carrying !o*Healing*, so I had to quaff !oHealing. Another round of attacks from Ares, and I'm at 140 HP and Mortally Wounded (again). Hrm. Quaff another !oHealing, and I'm at 220 HP and Deep Gash. OK, I can work with that. Teleport, quaff !oHealing, heal up.

Just put on Ares's helm, which does wonders for damage output, but leaves me concerned about my Saving Throw and my lack of RShards. I've been managing quite well without RShards because I've had good detection and a "oAntimagic makes sure I'm not petrified, but I think it's now time to fit it in, somehow or other... just saw Echizen on my last trip down ;-)

Re: Hades. OK, will do in future. I thought it was going to be something obvious, like with Shadow Stance attacking into wall or something.
