An Artisan is the master of traps, or so the help file says. So is this supposed to work yet? I've played around with traps for an hour or two. Setting traps in corridors usually doesn't work. Also what is a good item to set a trap with early on? I tried ammunition (not sure if it does nothing or missed), the launcher itself (nothing?), flasks of oil (works yay!, not enough damage to kill anything), wands (works, too rare), spores (can't be used at all), shrooms (no effect). Some of those might be wrong if early monsters are unusually good at disarming traps. Do I need to hide my traps?

Also when I set up two flasks of oil traps in a vertical line, activating the first one will turn the second one into a flask of acid, but this doesn't work if they are set up in a horizontal line.

Found a cloak (?) [1-9] {broken}.

IIRC, traps master is (or should be) heavily influenced by Disarming, which your character excels in (probably due to being an Artisan and I think that's the only way being Artisan helps). I don't remember a lot about traps (do they need light, or dark, for example, or is it all the same), except that I had a bit of success with them as a Hobbit long ago (Farm's boss in one shot, etc.). They may be unbalanced and some of them may be broken (unfortunately there is not enough sneaky adventurers, like you, that take the Way of Cunning and take the risk of testing them), but they also need a lot of experimentation common sense, as is common in Un, e.g. mushrooms won't work on monsters immune to a particular mushroom's effects, the launcher may also need ammo in the same trap, etc. (not sure about any of these tips). Please let us know how it goes.

Flask of oil transformed to a flask of acid is a bug and has to be reported on Berlios or the forum. Spores not working may be a bug, too. The cloak looks good (errr, bad) to me --- it may have some special property, it has negative AC and you've sensed it's broken. Actually, broken probably means it has no special property, so (?) may be wrong. Not sure.

I'm afraid I currently don't have the time (or mental stability 0_o) to reclaim my position as an Unangband guinea pig :)

Some more testing: It is true that you require a permanently lit tile to set a trap on which is why corridors didn't work. As for the launcher, I tried placing a second trap with amunition on top but that didn't work, and I have no idea how else to add amunition to the trap. That said, traps need to get seriously high multiplyers for any of this to be worth it.
The cloak had that (?) when I found it, and only later pseudoed broken.

Well, then, artisans are also good at throwing (throwing potions! yay!), some special magic and not so bad at general whacking things around, so you can just see how bumping into things works for artisans. :)
