Anyway, it's a pathetically low level attempt; I just had to say how smitten I suddenly am with this variant. My tastes have been shifting somewhat back towards the hack-end of the roguelike spectrum, so I thought I'd give Ironband another whirl - I'm glad I did: from what I've seen so far it's the best of both worlds. With no retreat to the town, and the sudden rarity it comes with, all items become more useful. Antoine seems to have read my mind regarding ideal monster balance; ambience, sense of danger, suspense, benefit enormously. New favorite *band.
