Of course 3 hours later I'm only CL32, but filling in holes and the like. I finally do the DL24 quest (Kharis) and he obliges with Aeglos and Arvedui. I pass on Arvedui, as I have Caspanion, but Aeglos pops me up to CL35. Finally, I decide to build for the Cloning Pits. Having scummed the town for 31 days and only netted 1 _speed, I did my vile trick to gain 1,000,000gp (takes about 30 minutes). Then I town scum, and scored enough staves of speed to do the quest, along with my second rod of healing (first one in an early vault) and a wondrous amulet of telepathy.

Cloning Pits was easy, though my stealth was horrible. So lots of red ants to slay ;-) Hammerhand, Destiny, Anubis ... and dunno, nothing else interesting. So the Avatar Boots put me at CL38. Figured I'd do the Castle as well, hoping the reward would be Indra (wrong, its the Charmed Pendant), and had a tough early start. Raal's got me down around 150hp and death knights boxed me in (while the stupid wall monsters bred like crazy). Teleport other and rod of healing (23% easier to cast than the staff, btw ... What's up with that?) and I regained control. Half Titans were a joke. Third rod of healing, though :-) Did M$ quest for disenchantment resist and DQII for _Healing.

But then what to do? I'm trying to cut back on DL60 Dragon's Lair scumming, so I only did that for Glaurung and 1 Ice Wyrm. Figured I'd go back to Angband and push thru the DL50 quest (with *many* resistance holes).

But then at CL38 and DL48 of Angband, I found a GCV vault! Wow! Gobs of arts, as you can see (Left about 10 other arts behind on the level), and many uniques, including Mephistopheles. But Magic Eaters can handle this. Lured a few uniques out for *Destruction* (had 8 charges), then pounded thru picking up Fingolfin (CL44), Thorin (CL46), Ring of Speed +9. Did some Earthquaking to thin things out and then picked up Amber (CL49). So CL38 to CL49 in about 20 minutes. Not bad .... (CL50 if I wear Isildur, but I need to +3 Int from Caspanion)

I still have resistance issues and my Int is a bit low. But with my new high level, rod of healing fail is 2% and staff of healing fail is 4%. Sweet ...

Magic Eaters can recharge by resting (Longer than other classes take to recover spell points) or using Restore Mana. Restore Mana will give back all charges (I think ... I haven't burned one yet :-)

But the more you eat, the more charges you get. I think Dave has some good screen shots of the end game arsenal ... You should check it out. Magic Eaters are very versatile and can handle many situations.
