Messed around with a bunch of random characters, and when it came down to it, I was sick of pansy-$#$$@ elven spellcasters. So back to karate bears. I had what I considered a more promising char last week which got cursed to death by a giant paladin in Amon Rudh. THis one has had all sorts of bad luck (not finding ?oRecall when needed, getting continually slowed down) and one major piece of luck-- the shield of resistance early. That means an "early" confrontation with Mim.

That didn't go exactly according to plan. I did get lucky with a stash of !oHealing showing up in the BM, but couldn't find bless scrolls in three towns. I go so far as to do another money dive to wait for them, and still no luck.

So, I decide to go for it anyway. Mim finds Chow really early and unexpectedly (didn't see him with a _oDetectEvil. So, I get set up with my buffs, and in the beginning of the combat, nrulings show up. Crud!

Chow goes to retirve Nimthanc (I'd otherwise just ?oTL out of there), but those dang nrulings keep blinding me. Finally, I get close to where I left Nimthanc, and a phalanx of black puddings are squatting there. Double crud!

At this point, Mim is down to half mana, (after acid balling me and a whole bunch of nearby nrulings). So I decide to dig in and go for Mim. I don't dare ?oPhase Door with all those nrulings about, so it is time to introduce Mim to Tae Kwon Bear.

Let's just say that I burned through a fair number of potions. Near the beginning of the fray, I noticed that someone had slowed me, and I end up fighting the entire melee segment with slow in effect (as well as !oSpeed).

Still, in the end it turned out ok. Now, onward to Nargothrond!
