Why not use that Holy Avenger Executioner's Sword at home?? It seems like it would put out a lot more damage than the Flail... the Sword would give SI and the Cloak of the Magi would give FA. Oh and it would give you fear resistance, although Paladins probably have a "boldness" spell or something similar. You'd lose some HP though so maybe that's why you're still using the flail.

I'm not sure how much you've played paladins, but they really suit a defensive mindset. Mid-level paladins are always low on speed, so the main threat is double breaths. I've lost quite a few characters that way, hence the emphasis on hp. OTOH they can get away with low to-dam, because the Protection from Evil and Heal (300) spells make them walking punch bags. The extra 70 or so to max hp helps here by raising the healing threshold from 490 to 560 hp, giving more margin for error in long endurance battles.

I've been eyeing that HA weapon for a while, but it never quite fits in with the other kit. Ah well, patience is the paladin's main virtue....
