In any case, don't fight undead stronger than Master level until very late in the game. They are just too dangerous. Much safer to dive to dl 62 and start Wyrm-hunting. With double resist, Great Ice Wyrm is not nearly as dangerous as a Vampire lord, and has a much better drop.

I will try it again, using traps and devices, maybe wands.

I'll have to think about bow balance - I had actually been using that that Long Bow, and just put on Amras for the speed; I didn't use archery much anyway, because traps, throwing and devices were doing so well. I originally had 4 of those Throwing Axes, which were great against dragons and demons.
