In the start, i thought Heng Palas were weak. I started played palas because once in the Dragon Caves with a Rogue and decent mana, but fleeing some nasty uniques grouped together, Glauring, Debby, etc... then i read a scroll of Summon Pet to delay my escape (no teleport after a heavy fight), and soon the screen is full of angels. Uniques start attacking the angels and vice-versa, allowing me to take out surgically all of them before my mana ran out. Then i see that Paladins use exactly THIS strategy, both of them. After playing some Crusade and Death with no sucess due to super crappyness early game, i started this one, and found ROBE OF INCANNUS very early!!!!!! coupled with really bad level up str and dex stat ups, i played this char like a mage that could fight a lil bit, Star Dust is an awesome early spell that deals a lot of (semi) ranged, shotgun effect damage, until the cloning pits, that i do only after i have Res Chaos, found SLAYER!!!! then, went directly to dragon caves and leveled, avoiding super nasties, with summon angel in mind, that´s a nice spell, but CRUSADE IS THE ONLY BUFF i need! boy, i kicked Ancalagon´s ass with such ease, full of Ultra Elite Palas in the screen...
It´s obvious why i´ve choose the disliked "fearless" modifier... No need to lots of hp with resist-all self-healing meatshields that do good damage.
After CLVL 50, i killed deep unique after deep unique, some amberites blood cursed me, but my fellow companions protected me every time :) Tiamat was a big fight, and first time im able to kill her in Heng. I sparred with her for maybe one hour, full of my summons and her summons in the screen, danger of me dying low because of all resists covered, until i finally killed her maybe because a LOT of Slayer´s weakening effect.
Note that playtime is much lower than in the dump. I tend to leave Heng on while doing another thingies (in the job)
Then, overconfidence and lack of knowledge made me to go to this quest... Impossible to teleport, impossible to enter room walking... how can i kill the 2 druj rooms? But then, i should carry more ! restore mana and maybe ! *healing*...
Before this, but after doing cloning pits, the only close time to die was against a GWoB, i took off res shards for +4 spd or something, only missing resist by the time, and the SOB breath shards 3 times in a row... then i cast ARMAGEDDON and go running home to cover shards even with less speed... Heng´s AI is deadly, if they find your weak spot, they´ll keep hitting it.
anyway, CRUSADE is SUPREME!!!!!

Point: I think that there is not an armor better than Incannus and weapon better than Slayer for a Crusade Paladin... am i right?
Leveling Paladins to full power is a pain, but ill definitely retry soon, Late game they´re KICKASS! Ill have to think about how to take out the druj rooms thu...

How long did it take to inscribe the description onto everything? Is there an easy way to do it?

The lines look like this

~*identified* artifact items#%all

picks all armors with word "dragon" and inscribes {#) with %all that transform into item stats.
leave on ground (or in inventory, ie do NOT destroy (~)) arts and egos, inscribing them too.
I took some time to refine it to the point it is today.

You're going to hit yourself after reading this, but... you don't need to kill those druj. You "just" need to kill the 5 Archliches to complete the quest. After picking up all your loot, recalling out is ever-so-much safer than taking stairs guarded by those nasty piles of bone.
