WINNER!! My first winner in Drang. That's the good news. The bad news is that he got toasted by chaos hounds after teleporting away from ethereal hounds. The +18 RoS is the best one in any Ang variant that I've found. I found the Ulmo artifact ring early on and wore it the whole game for immune acid/telepathy.

This was my 6th attempt at Drang. I find it much harder than Ang or even Zang. You really have to slow down at dlevel 30 and wait for speed/conf/blind/poi. Both times where I survived past dlevel 50 I found a speed ring very early on.

Even so it is very easy to die in this version, so as soon as I was ready for Morgy I dropped down to level 99 (from around dlevel 70) taking out uniques as I went. I was in for a loooong wait at dlevel 99 for Sauron. I finally had to stairscum about 100 times to force him to appear. After he went down fairly easily I dropped down to dlevel 100 and stairscummed for the big guy as well. Sauron/Morgy seem to appear much faster in Ang/Zang. He went down pretty easily. I only used about 5 heal potions. Actually, no unique gave me trouble. The dragons seem to hit pretty hard and I maintained +30 basic speed for the latter half of the game which helped. I died at dlevel 107 so I feel a bit unsatisfied. I would like to try a non-dragon next and take him all the way to the bottom.

There is a huge lack of *ID* scrolls!!! It doesn't matter for the dragon characters because there is not that much they can wear, but for a non-dragon character it would be a nightmare.

Anyway, I had a blast. This version is very hard, but very interesting and fun.
