...and a few days since Pav added the ladder to his embryonic site. A good time to be grateful for the awesomeness of this site.

Question - how did the Angband community find Pav or vice-versa? What a history! My best try at PosChengband 7.0.0's nightmare-mode on Angband.live:

If I'm offline I'm probably in the middle of maintaining Gentoo or something-Linux or other.

If I had to guess, I'd say rec.games.roguelike.angband, the Usenet group that was the center for the Angband community throughout the 90's. I used to come home from school, fire up Usenet, and read the 30-60 posts every day, every single one of 'em. Bless that community for putting up with my teenaged self.Comment

Whatever happened to the r.g.r.a.roguelike.angband "looking glass" that used to be on angband.oook.cz?My best try at PosChengband 7.0.0's nightmare-mode on Angband.live:

This is correct. It was the ladder that initially brought the attention. It was the spam and slow, but cascading migration, that killed off rgra.
This site is excellent, certainly as good as Google groups.
Biggest complaint I have is I can't set background to black in comments where color matters (like, say, a schematic picture with Waldern.)
