RSS, gimme more

This rss feed http://angband.oook.cz/forum/external.php?type=RSS2
only gives me the new threads, not the replies that are posted.

Twould be most convenient if I could get an RSS feed with replies as well.

I have to say that i would appreciate this too Just started to use a newsreader and it works great - and also helps you to keep an overview on all those boards you visit every day. And sure newsgroups which are "hard" to follow otherwise.

I don't think my skillset is high enough to edit this forum software (third-party) and maintain such a patch through the upgrades. Sorry, folks.

Ok, i think, i found the solution. Just change the URL for the RSS feed to

http://angband.oook.cz/forum/external.php?type=RSS2&lastpost=true

and you should receive all messages.
Havent tested it completely but it looks like its working

Edit: Well, sadly it doesnt seem to work as expected. Maybe an http://angband.oook.cz/forum/externa...2&newpost=true will do, but im not sure.

Another Edit: The lastpost=true seems to work - also i dont completely understand how. It shows some replies but i feel that there are some missing. But better than "standard" version

It is the weirdest thing, I can see replies in the xml, but Google Reader refuses to show them.. At this point I'm guessing its a bug in vBulletin ?

I vbulletin a commercial software? If yes, i would suggest to use another forum software (maybe SMF).
Pav, maybe you can email me the external.php so i can have a look what is possible? Im sure no php programmer and wont be able to implement something new but maybe there is a way to see all new posts.

Yes, it's a commercial software, and no, I don't want to migrate to SMF as SMF is balls and sucks bigtime. vBulletin works.

I don't say it cannot be bent (it is plaintext source code after all) but I'd like to avoid moving large patchsets to future vendor releases.

Well, i dont want to bend it too - thats for sure. Just wanted to have a look which options are supported (maybe a &getrecent=true or something).

Acceptable URL params are: forumid forumids type lastpost nohtml fulldesc count.

Hm, so there is no way to get new posts via RSS. Well, we will have to check the site manually then
The fulldesc option is pretty useful i think.
