Was going to down an older version of V for a new project... and can't resolve the hostname. Anyone know what happened?
Rephial down?

I'm not really knowlegable about the subject, but to me it looks like the DNS lookup for the IP fails. If someone knew the IP of the server they might still be able to connect. Furthermore a WHOIS lookup suggested that the DNS record was somehow updated today. I wonder if these are related.
EDIT: Of course "resolving the hostname" refers to the very act of a DNS lookup. But to me "down" means the server is non-working, regardless of DNS. Kinda caught that one too late.? of *Destruction* makes the better maps. -
Yeah. I thought it might be my ISP's DNS, but I see the same with Google DNS.
Edit: but in any case the Github page is still there...Comment

Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure I tried to connect 20-some hours ago and already got the same error, which kinda messes with my theory of _todays_ update causing the problems. Maybe it was already intended as a fix?? of *Destruction* makes the better maps.Comment

Yes, rephial.org (and hence trac, the bugtracker and buildbot, the autobuilder) are not answering.
Of course, the best place to get your source code (at least for actual versions) is the Angband Variant Repository. One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

[edit] found relevant info about why this is happening: https://community.rackspace.com/general/f/34/t/623Last edited by Timo Pietilä; February 23, 2014, 01:11.Comment

Posting to draw attention to Timo's edit in the previous post. As I understand the problem (which is not very much) it is at one remove from rephial, so basically we have to wait. One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

The domain registration looks like it's on hold---maybe it was allowed to expire and is currently waiting for the renewal to complete. The IP address won't help because (almost certainly) the site is built on a name-based virtual host and the server doesn't know where to send you if you don't make the request by name.
