I have a few kiwi friends who've been talking about all the quakes lately. Fortunately they themselves are all fine.

Another quake just hit Japan. Same place as the mag 9, that did so much damage. Mag was 7.4 with 6+ being the "felt" measurement. It hit about 10 mins ago and they are talking tsunami's on the TV. Fortunately they are only in the 1m range for Miyagi prefecture and lower for other areas.

Latest reports are that neither the earthquake nor the tsunami caused much damage. Tsunami's hit 30 mins ago, no reported/ significant damage.

Good to know. Apparently it wasn't quite so desastrous as the earthquake for 2011.

And yeah, from what I've heard there's a fair amount of damage, but little loss of life or limb. Not none, alas.
