Problem using Shockbolt tiles in v4

downloaded angband-win-v4-430-ged6024c and when I started a new character and then tried to switch to the Shockbolt tiles I get a warning message saying

Cannot read file '64x64.png' I click ok and get another warning message saying

cannot initial graphics! and then then tile multiplier gets set to 6x3 with no graphics

i'm using windows vista, any ideas on how to get it to work

    thanks

Can you confirm the the 64x64.png is present in the angband/lib/xtra/graf folder.

yes it is in that folder, and it I can open it in a picture viewer and see the tiles so I don't think that the file is corrupted

I'm sorry but I can't help you. I haven't gotten into the Shockbolt tiles yet. I'm mildly surprised the no one has solved this (or even offered a response) yet.

As noted in this thread, Windows devs are a bit thin on the ground. I don't think anyone on the devteam has access to Vista. Shockbolt's tiles are reported as working under Win7 and XP, so I'm guessing the problem is specific to Vista.

I received the exact same 64x64 error on my vista laptop as well so yeah must be vista. Fortunately my vista laptop just bit the dust so I am building me a new machine to play angband on, I've had nothing but problems trying to play angband and many variants on vista with the need to disable pref fonts all the time to play correctly.

This is probably way off the mark, but I remember another game (Space Empires V) having issues with certain image files; apparently they were saved in a format that Windows recognized, but the game didn't. To fix this issue, all that was necessary was to open the affected image files in Paint, and save them again. (Or maybe it was open them in GIMP/Photoshop/Paint.NET and save in OS/2 format?) Of course, this was with BMP files, not PNG, but it might be worth a try, opening the tileset in Paint and saving it again...

edit: say, another idea - did you put the game in Program Files or Program Files (x86)? Try putting it somewhere else... or maybe the file got "blocked"? Right click the file and do "properties", then on one of the tabs (I forget which) there might be something that says "This file came from another computer and was blocked for your security". Click the "unblock" button if you see that!

I'm playing on Vista 32bit and the Shockbolt set works fine.

                  Using version: angband-win-v4-421-g0420b1f

Maybe a problem introduced in a later version?

I have the same problem with the 32x32 tiles. The function that reads the PNG file barks on a couple of lines and I had to adjust it so that those lines could be skipped.

Just tried to test the function that reads the PNG files with the 64x64 tileset. Like the 32x32 tileset, the function complains that it cannot scan some lines (15 lines for the 64x64 tileset, 2 lines only for the 32x32 tileset). No idea why...

I posted this in another thread several days ago but just in case it got missed...

The shockbolt tiles seem to work well in OSX 10.7. However if you ever detect monsters or traps then look at the zoomed out dungeon wide map and a monster shows up as a small (8x8? 8x16?) graphic on the dungeon-wide map, it will then be displayed at that small size for the rest of the game (or at least the session).

VVV Thanks! Just making sure. VVV

I'm aware of this issue and will see what I can do. I think it's the lack of double-height tile support, which should be fairly straightforward to add.

I'm having an issue that nobody else has reported. Playing in WinXP, only the background tiles appear (floor and walls, stairs, doors, shops). The player and the monsters are invisible. I've tried rebooting, and fiddling with all the settings I can see, but nothing makes a difference. I remain invisible. Any thoughts?
