New PWMAngband 1.2.0 beta 3 released!
Few bug fixes and rebalancing + fire-till-kill mode.
List of changes:
- Add 16x24tx.fon, 21x31tg.fon and 24x36tg.fon from Tangar
- Stop treating back-quote as escape
- Allow lowercase Dungeon Master names in mangband.cfg
- Fix incorrect options/ignore packets crashing the server
- Lower Expensive Black Market price factor from 10x to 8x
- Increase the number of items that can be ordered in the Expensive Black Market from 6 to 8
- New fire-till-kill option (MAngband submenu)
- Implement fire-till-kill mode for "fire at nearest" command
- Implement fire-till-kill mode for spells
- Remove score bonuses from challenge options
- Add more birth options to server configuration file (no artifacts, no selling, no stores)
- Add chance of generating "good" and "great" items in constant.txt
- Fix scene of death in character dumps when using tiles
- Add "fast" wilderness mode via DIVING_MODE server option to make everyone aware of the location of the base town (Carn Dûm) at birth
- Fix client not displaying the last messages before death
- Don't drop gold either when permanently dying
Client has been updated. Players must get the new client to play on beta 3 servers.
Important note: server savefile is not compatible with beta 2!
This means either delete the server savefile (lib/user/save/server) or restart a clean instance (otherwise the game will crash upon launch).

/rfe add admin '&' command to return all players to town immediately - so it would be easier to restart server and provide technical works. Currently I have to 'ask' all players to go to safe place via chat and wait sometimes up to several minutes when they would do so (chat is the only way - because as I reported before, admin character doesn't work at all atm, so I can't & them out even 1 by 1).
It's appeared to be a problem as we got more players and I have to test a lot of new features during the day which require server restart.Leave a comment:

add a client option (for advanced players, turned off by default): do not show deceased character screen on login, but to recreate new incarnation of previous character at once after death automatically (so char would have name with roman numbers IX, X, XI..). As we are going to die _a lot_ this option would be very handy in long perspective - it would safe a time and also you won't forget to reincarnate with roman number (I do it all the time... so I don't know correct number of my 'Tangars' lol.. other players forget it too quite often I suppose).

when I put 'Pick' at '1' as 'normal' - it generates there loads of Picks of Earthquakes and other valuable pickaxes for very cheap prices

Angband got awesome feature: when you first time run client - it rearrange all windows for user's resolution and _then_ creates .ini file.
PWMA also got this feature for classic 'mangclient.exe' client, but currently PWMA distributed with pre-defined config files (and they got only one window by default). Also when I've deteled config file (to use 'auto-creation' feature in .exe setup) - client glitches and gives an error ('Can't find graphics!') about tileset and run with ascii (but still open all windows).
Suggestion:
1) assign Gervais tileset to default mangclient.exe settings
2) assign Shockbolt tileset to sdl client
3) reassign all windows in other positions (move message window on top, near monster list and chat; move inventory to the right; map to the bottom). I suggest using this layeouts (predefined for 1920x1080):

4) start sdl client by default in fullscreen

There is kinda possible exploit: if you drink potion of salt water, you become starved and game kick you out from the game (without 30 second timer). Players could use this mechanics to avoid death - drink this potion as 'escape' option if they got dangerous situation, so next time when they relog to the game - they would have easier lvl or could ask other players for help.
Players should have control over their character all the time.. That feature take this control out from players hands (and also gives exploit mechanics), so it should be optional.
