    Angband lite?

I seem to remember reading about an Angband lite variant in rgra. It was a simplified game with just 10 levels and Wormtongue on the bottom of the dungeon instead of Morgoth. It might also have other restrictions. Anyone recalls how it was called?

I think you mean Quickband. It had 12 dungeon levels (each roughly equivalent to 5 regular levels), no stat potions, and Saruman at the bottom.

Thanks, too bad that it is not updated to the current NPPAngband base.

That would be nice. There would be quite a lot of work to do though.

I have, instead, been developing Ironband, which is from a very recent version of NPP, and is a lot of fun.

This will go back on my todo list. I tried at one point, but NPP 5 was still in beta. It was terribly frustrating to be doing both NPP fixes and importing Quickband at the same time. Also, I was, unbeknownst to myself, ill at the time.

It would be awesome if you had time & inclination to work on the Quickband update!!

Anybody have latest NPP release? [NEEDED FOR PORT]

I need the latest NPP Release (Beta6) so that I can (re)start work on the Quickband 2.0. I've downloaded the latest Quickband, but my current NPP is Beta4.

Unfortunately, the NPP site has been down for weeks. If you have a copy, please let me know, or just email a copy to pmac360 {at} yahoo.com

                Thanks very much!

                Pete Mack

PS: I'm looking forward to Quickband with a Mage class that is strong enough to fight Saruman before cl 35. Right now, all the other classes can do it before cl 30... But mage just doesn't have sufficient HP or mana.

My ISP blocked the email, so I've made the source for NPP beta 6 available on the FA download page (right down at the bottom).

                    Thanks Nick, I got it.

Now all I need is to find my Quickband notes. I know I posted them to the newsgroup, but I haven't found it yet.

                    Edit:
OK, I found two threads with various todo lists (mine and Antoine's). Antoine, is this the most current of your Quickband todos?

Yes, that's the latest from me.

Though I wouldn't mind adding some of my Ironband changes (typically minor but game-enhancing stuff) at some stage.

Someone needs to set up an variant preservation project, for those variants that just suddenly drop off the net...

                          Agreed.

I've been thinking of hosting one on my virtual domain, but I'm a bit wary of trying to with anything less than unmetered bandwidth on the server's monthly rental lease.
