                Well, I did say "marginally". It just seems a shame for the only viable race to be High-Elf and for arcane casters to have such a huge advantage over everyone else.

                    Just remove all other races and classes, and rename "Mage" to "Rocketeer"

                            You could easily make races other than High-Elf viable by just giving all starting characters a ring of See Invisible.

                                    Reminds me of Gnollcrawl ( https://github.com/Dracunos/gnollcrawl ), a Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup variant where every monster is a gnoll and you can't advance beyond xl1, the rationale being that fighting dl1 gnoll packs is the epitome of roguelike tactical experience.

                                            Alas no, I got distracted by other things, including resuscitating my dead OSX partition.

                                            I had intended to make a release, but it would've just been a patch release to make characters other than high-elf mage viable. The basic concept would have been unchanged. After all, why change what's already perfect?
